Marine Macroecology
Macroecology is the study of relationships between organisms and their environments by characterizing and explaining patterns of abundance, geographic distribution, diversity, and traits at large spatial scales.
Given marine fisheries often record information on each of these key variables—often at large spatial scales and long temporal scales, macroecology is increasingly seen as complimentary to other approaches in fisheries ecology.
Jon remains intrigued by the influence that environmental processes and fishing have on the macroecology of marine populations, communities and ecosystems and he continues to draw on regional-to-global analyses to provide insights often useful in the context of local studies (see Publications).
