Research Interests
Dr. Fisher’s research interests include the structure, functioning and dynamics of marine ecosystems. He has research experience in population, community and ecosystem ecology of exploited and unexploited systems in the North Atlantic. His primary research goal within CFER is to understand and quantify how exploitation and climate forcing alter the characteristics and productivity dynamics of temperate and sub-Arctic marine ecosystems—with a focus on the fisheries resources of Newfoundland and Labrador. Jon and his students’ current research projects address shifting distributions and population dynamics of marine species in response to changing ocean conditions, understanding the dynamic productivity of fisheries ecosystems, quantifying food web interactions, and applying marine macroecological approaches to fisheries issues.
